SafeHouse Denver is the only organization in the City and County of Denver that provides both emergency shelter and non-residential counseling and advocacy services exclusively to adult, child, and youth survivors of domestic violence. Founded in 1977, SafeHouse Denver is deeply rooted in a mission to support survivors in reclaiming their lives.
Position Summary
SafeHouse Denver seeks a skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to provide maintenance at SafeHouse Denver-owned facilities, coordinate facility repairs, and manage projects, while developing and maintaining vendor relationships and related resources to support the organization’s facilities and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee maintenance and upkeep of SafeHouse Denver’s residential and administrative facilities, including repairs, routine maintenance, cleaning oversight, and light plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and project management tasks.
Manage and coordinate repair and improvement projects from start to finish, including obtaining quotes, scheduling vendors and volunteers, negotiating discounted or pro-bono services, supervising onsite work, and ensuring timely completion.
Conduct regular facility walkthroughs to identify needs, prioritize repairs with staff, and maintain equipment and appliances in compliance with health and safety standards.
Oversee outdoor services (landscaping, snow removal), preventive maintenance schedules, inspections (fire alarm, suppression systems, elevator, etc.), maintenance deliveries, and installations.
Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, maintain professional relationships, communicate expectations for onsite work, and ensure facility safety and confidentiality.
Maintain facility supply inventory and manage all related documentation (contracts, warranties, quotes, records) in SharePoint.
Communicate project timelines and updates to staff and residents; prepare reports for leadership; attend required staff meetings.
On occasion, on-call maintenance service will be necessary (e.g., emergency repair – heating, water intrusion, other health/safety-related facility issues, etc.).
Other duties as assigned by the CEO and Director of Operations and HR.
Qualifications:
Expertise in facility maintenance and repairs as well as project management.
Valid Colorado driver’s license, insurance and good driving record.
Must have consistent access to a reliable vehicle to be able to travel to and from various work sites and stores to purchase supplies.
Able to lift items inside and outside of the facility (boxes, tools, hardware, equipment, etc.)
Able to work independently and have confidence in resolving facility-related issues.
Takes initiative to resolve things in a timely manner.
Knowledge of the cycle of domestic violence and the barriers experienced by survivors of domestic violence.
Ability to cultivate effective relationships.
Must have patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
Protects confidentiality, demonstrates appropriate boundaries and maintains a safe and healthy, trauma-informed environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must pass background check.
